Sometimes being a kid isn’t easy......emotion regulation and navigating through school, family and friends can be confusing.
I view psychotherapy as a collaborative process in which your child, your family and I work together to help explore and understand the concerns that brought your child into therapy and make the changes you all are seeking. Taking their lead to create a mindful trusting, safe container in which they can feel seen, heard and supported, children are able to draw upon their inner strengths. Along with tools and consistent reinforcement, self-efficacy and distress tolerance is built, emotional resilience increased and therapeutic goals can be obtained!
Kids and their families don’t have to go at it alone.
As children function daily within a family, I ask that parents participate in their child’s individual counseling by meeting for collateral sessions every 6-8 weeks to discuss how treatment is going, explore and evaluate areas concerns and gain/reinforce parenting tools and skills.
